US$377m
Brazil's imports of made-up textiles (HS 63)
ComexStat, 2025
What Brazil buys
Brazil imported US$377 million of home textiles and other made-up textile articles (HS 63) in 2025, and Bangladesh supplied just 0.3% of it (ComexStat, 2025). That gap is the opportunity. Bangladesh exported US$928 million of home textiles to the world, but only US$1.3 million of it went to Brazil (EPB, FY2025-26). Bed linen, towels, kitchen and table linen, curtains and furnishing fabrics are the natural starting points, along with yarn and knitted fabrics for Brazil's own clothing makers.
The two countries are already linked through cotton: Brazil supplied about a quarter of the cotton Bangladesh imported in the 2024/25 marketing year (USDA FAS, MY2024/25). If a range can be traced back to Brazilian cotton, a Brazilian buyer has a story to tell.
Rules to know
Duties depend on how far the product is processed (Camex tariff schedule, Oct 2026). Bed, table, toilet and kitchen linen and carpets pay 35%. Knitted fabrics and woven cotton fabrics pay 26%, cotton yarn 18%, and bedding and quilts 16.2%. An additional COFINS-Importação applies to most textile chapters, and imported products must carry Portuguese labels. Confirm the full NCM code of each product with a customs broker before you quote.
How to win Brazilian buyers
Lead with certification and specification. OEKO-TEX, GOTS and Textile Exchange certificates can be checked in public registers, so bring the numbers. For technical textiles, agree the specification and any testing with the buyer before you price. Show a focused range with clear weights, compositions and colourways, and quote FOB and CIF so the buyer can compare landed costs with other suppliers. With Bangladesh's share this small, treat the first order as a trial and make it easy to accept: a modest minimum quantity and a lead time you are sure to meet.
